Coming Full Circle with WSKG: A Community Connection Revisited

Kerstin Driscoll-Witt, Senior Retirement Plan Navigator

Several years ago, I had the opportunity to present to the team at WSKG about a potential business partnership. Before the meeting, I spent time researching WSKG to understand what their organization was truly about. Although my firm didn’t ultimately land the opportunity to work with them, I was left with the sense that we had missed out on something special—not from a business perspective, but from a community one.

Through my research, I discovered the incredible programs WSKG produces: documentaries,  community engagement efforts, and educational programs for both children and adults. Their collaborations with local and regional organizations impressed me deeply, and I couldn’t help but feel a bit envious that we weren’t able to work alongside such a talented and purpose-driven team.

At every Chamber of Commerce luncheon I attended, there was always a raffle, and WSKG would consistently donate a documentary CD highlighting a local historical event. These documentaries were so well done that everyone always wanted to win that prize. A couple of years ago, I had the pleasure of attending the first screening of Alozo’s Ghost, an original WSKG production about the history of Roberson Museum and its rumored hauntings. Once again, it was excellent work—creative, professional, and deeply rooted in our community’s story.

Several years later, I am honored to collaborate with WSKG as an employee of S.E.E.D. Planning Group, supporting their fundraising initiatives and helping advance their mission. It feels a bit like coming home. There’s a steady mission that shines through everything they do—connecting community, history, culture, and collaboration. From my conversations with their staff, I know that nonprofit work isn’t always easy, but at WSKG, it’s always meaningful and rewarding.

WSKG has a strong and loyal following, with many supporters choosing to contribute annually or through estate planning. It’s a wonderful example of aligning intention with purpose—people intentionally supporting WSKG so the organization can continue to pursue its mission with purpose and creativity. As you plan your giving strategy for 2025, I hope you’ll consider being intentional too.

Where Growth Begins: Empowering Our People at S.E.E.D.

Christina Powell, Digital Marketer

At S.E.E.D., we believe care doesn’t stop at the client. The same dedication we bring to guiding families and communities extends to the people who make it all possible—our team.

From the very first interview, we encourage new hires to share their ideas, speak up when they see opportunities, and contribute their thoughts on how we can improve. That spirit of collaboration fuels our culture. We don’t just want employees who follow a process—we want people who feel empowered to shape it.

When our team feels supported, heard, and valued, it creates a ripple effect that naturally reaches every client we serve. Our people are more than employees; they’re partners in building something bigger. By investing in their voices and their growth, we ensure our clients receive the very best of what S.E.E.D. has to offer.

Our Just Cause is simple: to create a place where people thrive. Because when our team grows, our clients and our community grow too.

Both are beginning their journey through S.E.E.D.’s 12-month Associate Planner program, a comprehensive experience that combines hands-on training, mentorship, and licensing preparation. Designed to build the foundation for a successful career in financial planning, the program reflects S.E.E.D.’s ongoing commitment to professional development and client-centered excellence.

Please join us in welcoming Quin and Nick to the S.E.E.D. family — we look forward to seeing the impact they’ll make as they grow alongside our clients and community.
